DO i need all of this?

I surely do not. But if you have it around you while playtesting, you can make up things on the fly.

I want to create cards for the game that do not "rot" in your hand. Every cards should be playable right away and if you keep it on your hand to wait for the right moment, it should be gaining power.

On the other hand... if your timing is off and you let the "perfect moment" pass, then its "back to its old strength again".

HOW to invent cards on the fly

So much stationery stuff! It's so easy to buy too much of it. You always think you need EVERYTHING! Of course you only need half of it, but better than when you need something and don't have it at home. In any case, I can now invent cards to my heart's content and test them immediately. I found out that it saves a lot of time if you play for a while and then pay attention which card you would like to play now.

There are hundreds of situations where you think: "Wow, I'd like to have a card for that now! Then you just invent the card and make it interact with other game mechanics.

the poker ressource deck

The beginning of the month was taken up by the making of the picture cards for the poker-resource-street-deck. I found very nice drawings, repainted them and redesigned them to fit into each other. I'm still unhappy with the Aces, but that's feel-good work, and I'll save it for later when I have a low-motivation day.

Being forced to paint

By modelling all the miniatures I have fallen behind with the painting. I actually paint the figures less for aesthetic than for practical reasons: The blue resin I use for printing simply doesn’t show whether the figure is already ok due to its translucent nature. So I have no choice but to paint it. I also printed some figures in grey resin, but in general I achieved the best results with blue resin.

my biggest miniature so far

Since I already had some experience with building and printing miniatures, I dared to approach a real "fear-opponent": The monkey angel Phanuel and his monkey vassals who represent the seven deadly sins.

This was an incredibly complex model because I wanted to feel the monkey's weight on his throne. I also had to develop a throne on which a creature with wings can sit :D

I had started this model a few months ago, then noticed that I lack experience and then did something else first. Now I had enough self-confidence to finish this model.

There are still a lot of things I want to do better, but I think it's working fine for now. You can see pictures of the print in the gallery.

So many miniatures

Slowly I start to realize what I began to do. The scope of the game begins to dawn on me.

GAME CURRENCY

There will be a lot of different markers and coins in the game. Those items must align with the overall mystical theme of the game. They have to seem ancient and used, in two different materials, silver and gold.

TWO MORE ANGELS, more cards and more equipment

The rest of the month was spent on the game currency. I looked at several antique coins and collected pictures.

As I want to avoid all "colors" in the game (as almost all of the other boardgames on the market look awfully colorful) I decided to use "materials" instead. The whole game will gain its "colors" from silver, gold, patina and rust. That should be enough.

I don't know if my coins look antique, but I think they go quite well with the rest of the game. They have to be big because the game mechanics often place them under bulwarks and temples or other miniatures.

Here you can see how I painted these things. I needed about a week for the design and the print (the printer was running non-stop and almost 2 liters resin were needed for 120 coins). I painted all the coins in one day without any problems. I used Molotow spray paint (scratch-resistant industrial grade), then applied brown ink to the gold coins and black ink to the silver coins. Then I dried them in the sun and immediately sprayed a protective varnish on them.

After all this mass production I was very happy to be able to create some miniatures again :D
