Do yourself a Favor...

...and pre-visualize everything you can.

2019 JUNE

Structuring

To find good themes for the game, I created a small diagram with a mind mapping app. immediately it was visible which actions help the game and which do not. It was also easier to assign the different actions to demons or angels. Some stuff just seems more "Angelic" or more "Demonic".

Because this worked so well, I applied it to all other areas from then on and adopted it as a standard behavior: If in Doubt, make a List or a Picture.

Humans understand connections much faster if there is a visual stimulus. No matter what you are trying to create, no matter what you are trying to understand or what problem you want to solve, it ALWAYS helps you to make visual aids yourself. Whether you can draw or not, stick figures also help. Anyone can draw a more or less straight line. Drawing is always better than writing to explain complex systems. Often you have to explain your own systems to yourself, which you have created with pure intuition.

I have often had the case of creating a mechanism by pure intuition that "almost" worked. The small mistakes I could then correct by making the mathematics behind it visible to adjust the probabilities. Most of the time the "repair and adjust" takes 20 times more time than the original invention of the mechanics.

MINIATURES

This month I created some new miniatures. This is also my most complex model so far. I did this because I was not satisfied with the first model. I also decided to re-model all the busts and to give them new poses as well. This is a big effort, but it will make the game more complete, well thought out and valuable.

Here you can also see into how many single parts the figures have to be disassembled to make them printable at all. I printed these figures with the Peopoly Moai in transparent blue resin.

MORE POSES

To be able to show a new pose with the bust of the miniature is a very nice way to bring more depth into the character. The bust marks the army board that is a representation of the miniature on the board.

Now i have to make 48 poses in total, 2 for every character in the game, but i think it is worth it. It just looks so much better.
