THE ARMAGEDDON CLOCK

A new concept for the game. A clock in the form of a deck of cards "ticking down".

2018 May

CARDS, CARDS, CARDS...

This month I was able to create a huge amount of cards for the Armageddon Clock Deck. I think over 50 different ones. Overall, the game will contain 216 of these cards. The deck is like a clock ticking slowly to zero and starting the showdown of the game if neither player could win before.

Of course I don't know yet which mechanics prove themselves as exciting and what others have to be changed. Since both players have access to the cards, I only have to make sure that the cards have a certain balance between themselves and that there are no "too powerful" cards to spoil the fun. More powerful cards have to be compensated by costs.

During the painting and development the printer was busy producing the upgrades for the humans. Since I don't know how many are in the game at the same time, I better built some more than too few. I don't want this kind of resource consumption to be limited by too few models. I also developed a logo for the game. I drew the basic shape by hand in Photoshop. I wanted it to be something exotic and artistic. It should also have a cross pointing in both directions.

A NEW IDEA TO IMPLEMENT BUILDINGS

This is a base plate for the future models of heaven and hell buildings. The reason for the strange form is that these buildings can be upgraded with dead people. There will be 8 buildings for each faction. 4 large ones and 4 small ones. At least thats what i have planned so far.

Experiments with a new Demon and magnets

I also created a really interesting model of a level 02 demon. I tried to build an item for the demon's hand that looks like it's floating, so it's not printable. I experimented with this effect for a long time. The Demon "Pazuzu" is a tribute to the movie "The Exorcist". You can see pictures in the gallery.

Since I also experimented with magnets and thought I could do it, I developed an interchangeable arm, with which the demon can use 3 different elements in battle, so to speak. It was difficult to estimate the degree of shrinkage of the resin so that later the magnets would fit perfectly into the printed openings.

BASES FOR BUILDINGS

I thought buildings would be a very nice thing to have. They could give bonuses to humans and monsters, generate income and also be ressource sinks. but first i had to make a prof of concept if this is even manageable.

The right literature is key

I always have to remember myself in not creating anything without the right visual aids. You think you know how the body of a deer looks and where the muscles are, but you really don't.

So I don't even attempt modeling without the right kind of books or pictures anymore. It spares you so much pain.

TWO MORE ANGELS, more cards and more equipment

Harut the Banner Bearer. Another level 02 angel model. I used a lot of pictures from a very good anatomy book. I can only recommend this to anyone who wants to draw and model anatomically correct. I'm not a super professional modeler myself but books like this help to compensate for small imperfections.

MY NEW ULTRASONIC CLEANER

Hooray! A new piece of equipment! This is an ultrasonic cleaner. It cleans my miniature components and I have really noticed an increase in quality than with my old toothbrush scratch technique. Now I am really high tech! The isopropanol and the sound waves get the unhardened resin perfectly out of all creases.

A simple deck of poker for "The Pit"

In the last week of May I created the “resource deck”. It is basically a normal Poker-Deck that is used for various things during the game. It features roman numbers and pictures of human parts from old masters. It will also get combat symbols so the player can choose if he wants to use the resources or empower his warriors in combat using the card. You can find pictures in the gallery below.
