"HATE"

It is always good to understand what is on the market. As "The Pit" will also be a game for an adult audience I was happy to see, that other games are developed for that "target group".

Learning from other games on Kickstarter

One year ago I supported the Kickstarter project of CMON "Hate" to see what you can expect getting in plastic and paper if you invest 400€.

It is quite a lot!

I haven't gotten around to playing it yet, but I'll take time to test it soon. What surprised me a lot was, that the miniatures were all completely assembled. In "Kingdom Death: Monster" I got a kit that I had to assemble myself. But the quality of the Kingdom Death miniatures is much higher.

I can learn a lot from "Kingdom Death: Monster" and "Hate", because my game will be in this "weight class".

New Base Design

Magnets are a great idea! But: Sticking magnets into the side of a base is a bad idea! So I developed a system where the player can simply put the magnets into slots on the ground. If he takes care to insert all his magnets in the same direction nothing can go wrong.

For this I have also added an arrow and a "face" marker. If the player has inserted a magnet wrongly, he can easily remove it with a needle without ruining the miniature.

Leather pouch update

The metal tools for the pouches and the first prototypes were completed. On the photos everything looks already very good. I am curious how they feel and how resistant the pouches are. Here we have now goatskin which is very thin and very high quality.

bases and pouches

An another upgrade. As I redesign the human miniatures, they need a new base. Also I want to get rid of the fake-velvet-amazon-pouches.

HUMAN REDESIGN

I like them so far. I think they are much more representative now. But in the future I think i will make another re-design of all of them.

Re-design of the humans

As the angels and demons figures become very detailed and pompous, the human models have to follow. They just don't match the other miniatures anymore.

That means I have to build 9 different models partly new and have to reprint and paint nearly 200 figures. I thought about creating 2 different overall model shapes for the new figures, so that they are easier to distinguish even when unpainted. The Alpha people touch the base at the back and the Omega people touch the front part. It is only a small detail, but I think everything that can increase the distinguishability should be used. Each model gets a "lower connecting part" typical for the function of the human.

I am very happy with the new design the 3d prints are "quite ok". Unfortunately I didn't get a very good resolution because it is very cold in my workshop at the moment and a good 3D print needs a temperature of over 25 degrees. Well, for prototypes it should be ok.

The photos are a bit blurry but on the 3D pictures you can see the details quite well. At some point I will have to buy a new 3D printer. That will increase the quality quite a bit.

New combat card design

I had a test print made of the new combat cards. Even though I don't think that this is the final design yet, they work for now. I still clearly feel my deficits as a card designer. I need to start buying more books and study the design, layout and other important functions of the user design.

TEST PRINTS

Cards look very different on a computer monitor then in real life because they are backlit on a monitor. Thats why testprints from a professional workshop have to be made to check if the colors come out ok and if the brightness is right.
