EQUIPPMENT WITH A HIGH PRICE TAG

Is not always the best equippment for your purposes. I had to find that out, very painfully. Just do not make your purchase decision on anything you read on the interwebs. Join a DISCORD channel for 3D printing. Ask the guys what they are using and to which purpose.

Do not only ask for the strenghts but also for the weakness of the product. Sometimes a weakness for one creator is not a weakness for you. For example you might not care for speed in a printer but need maximum detail etc.

2020 APRIL

Even more new equipment

I have ordered and received my new printer. A new form 3 arrived on a huge pallet. Unfortunately the printer was not suitable for my purposes. Formlabs is apparently working on changing this but I can't wait that long. I need to be able to show how my miniatures can look best. Unfortunately, the Form 3 did not achieve this goal.

After a somewhat exhausting episode, I was able to return the equipment.

I talked to all my contacts again, watched youtube videos, read tests and found a video with Adam Poots recommending a 4K DLP system. After all the discussions in the Discord chat rooms I will probably decide to buy a Phrozen Shuffle 4k.

I have also bought a drilling set to remove burrs etc. I don't know yet how useful it is but I wanted to try it out. Maybe I will do something with wood, just for relaxation.

Miniatures and learning process

I am still updating my models. Here's an experiment with the "twin demons". I think this egg will look very cool on the field, but at the moment it doesn't seem practical to print it. At least not with my current printer. Maybe I'll try the new one.

Sometimes i come up with miniatures...

...that do not even seem to be printable. Well I am sure they are, but they have to be cut into so many pieces. I still don't know if i will attempt this or just build another miniature.

But it was important to get this miniature out of my system.

IMPROVING MY SUB-PAR ARCHITECTURAL SCULPTING

This is the new Citadel.

It replaces a model I used to make as a proxy in half an hour. I have a lot more to learn about the design of buildings. I found a great tutorial on how to do it that only costs $5.

I think I will use this tutorial as a foundation for my learning process. There are so many good tutorials and information on sites like Artstation, Gumroad or Udemy which are all very affordable resources.

SOMETHING IS still off

I am very pleased with how the new models look on the board. Maybe I still have to do something with the size of the models. This model is huuuuuge!

I want the models to be huge. I want the models to have no limits. But there is still something wrong with them. There is still a lot to be solved. If i only knew what it is.

In the gallery you can also see a re-model of one of the champions. It was still too big in the test print and I still have to change some things on it. But it looks nicer than the first version.
